Bringing Food Back to Life: The Power of Zombie Veggies
Our Zombie Veggies activation teaches residents how to breathe new life into food scraps that would generally wind up dead and buried.
At Good for the Hood, we know tackling climate change feels like a daunting mission, but we're ready to show local residents that small actions really add up. We engage local communities in essential conversations through fun and interactive activations like our Zombie Vegetable event. In partnership with local councils, we engage residents to explore how to rethink household food waste.
What are Zombie Veggies?
Zombie veggies are those sometimes scary-looking scraps, bits of veggies that you thought were dead and gone. But like zombies, veggies have ways of reanimating. Whether it's carrot tops turned into pesto, wilted greens revived in water, or potato scraps planted to grow fresh tubers, our
Zombie Veggies activation teaches residents how to breathe new life into food scraps that would generally wind up dead and buried.
Teaching Sustainability with Fun, Actionable Tips
Good For the Hood’s mission is simple—engage everyday people in meaningful climate-friendly actions that are easy to do at home. Our Zombie Veggies demonstrations makes sustainability education fun, accessible and engaging for all ages, even our smallest kitchen helpers.
At our events, kids get their hands dirty in the best way possible: by helping to replant veggie scraps, and doing fun hands-on zombie-themed activities and worksheets. It’s a chance to show them that every piece of food has value, and they can be part of a solution to food waste.
