In 2024, Lane Cove Council brought climate education to life through their Weaving Climate Stories initiative, with support from Good for the Hood.

The program was executed with funding from the NSW Government through the NSW Social Cohesion Grants for Local Government.

How Did Good for the Hood Support Lane Cove Council’s Climate Engagement?

As part of the Weaving Climate Stories program, we facilitated two community-focused climate engagement workshops in August 2024:

• Climate Fresk Workshop – A hands-on session using the globally recognised Climate Fresk tool, which helps participants connect the dots between climate science and everyday decisions.
  
  
• Climate Leadership Workshop – A dynamic session aimed at upskilling local leaders, community champions, and residents ready to step up as sustainability advocates.



These sessions helped foster connection, increase climate literacy, and empower residents to take meaningful action, all with minimal coordination required from council staff.

What Is Good for the Hood Doing at the 2025 Weaving Climate Stories Film Festival?

Good for the Hood returned for the 2025 Weaving Climate Stories Film Festival this time with a pop-up activation stall aimed at sparking quick, impactful interactions with residents.

We offered a “Zombie Veggie” display for kids, showing the fun and value in food waste reduction and some yummy low waste snacks for parents and passers-by.
