We had some great conversations at the Litter Congress 2021 in Sydney. Not only was it great to be back at a face to face conference with all the other legendary Good Doers, but it got us doing one of our favourite things, talking rubbish! From community interest groups, policy makers, industry and everyone in between, this was the spot to start tackling litter, better.
If you don't know the Litter Congress (hosted by Keep Australia Beautiful, NSW), it has always been about looking at the best approaches to managing that pesky pollution problem. From source control to education, enforcement, place based approaches, and the all important role of storm-water management, it's truly a one-stop, stop-the-litter shop, baby.
Our co-founder Jo Taranto presented on some of our own litter adventures and delved into the specific challenge of tackling New Year's Eve litter in 2019 in Sydney's during the state's worst bushfires disaster. Good For the Hood was also part of the panel chat after the event, MC'd by "Sustainable Sally" Williams.
We had a great time sharing our experiences and hearing from other groups about making some good in our 'hoods with litter management! Thanks to NSW Environmental Protection Authority, Keep Australia Beautiful NSW, and all the communities, corporates, and councils for working to litter-ally make our hoods, a little more good.
